San Diego Children’s Museum opening dinner for donors, May 2008

I was so happy to be apart of the opening of the New San Diego Children’s Museum.  When I was approached to design the centerpieces for the dinner to thank the generous donors for their contribution, I initially wanted to  contribute myself and donating my time for this spectacular event.

The opening of the New Children’s Museum symbolized a rebirth of a new museum.  I then felt it was appropriate to incorporate the simplicity of pale pink cherry branches, flown in from the east coast, as the focal point of the centerpieces.  The 8 foot branches and river rock in a tall clear vase created a feeling as if one was walking through a blooming orchard in spring.    In this case, less is more.  There is something so beautiful about Simplicity.
