Briana and Wesley Seaside Forum La Jolla

Briana and Wesley are adorable!  Young love is so sweet and inspiring especially when celebrated at the ever so amazing Seaside Forum.  One of my favorite venues in San Diego.  This wedding was a combination of vintage anthropology that meets the sea.  Wedding flower colors were white and ivory with a hint of blush.  Floral design on guest tables incorporated open-cut rununculas,  Phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangea, tulips and David Austin garden roses clustered in heirloom blue mason jars placed on top white river rock mats and burlap runners.  Natural organic accents included grape wood branches, sala and wicker orbs.

Thank you to the following vendors for making their wedding day so special.

Nick and Niki Married!

I just adore Nick and Niki and was so happy to create the florals for their wedding day.  They both have such unique styles and wanted their wedding to reflect their personalities.   The wedding was all about vintage touches and DIY accents.  Ivory and whites dominated the floral palette with accents of orange, yellows, sea foam blue, and silver.  They started with their I Do’s in Little Italy and finished up with their reception at the Prado Balboa Park.  It was a perfect day to get married!

Kudo’s from the bride and groom:

Dear Kimberly,

All we can say is WOW!  You are AMAZING!  We were soo impressed the day of the wedding how everything turned out with the flowers.  Everything was so cute and personable!

Really Kimberly, you had to deal with our absolute destination wedding craziness, so we really appreciate the hard work you put in.  We apologize if we didn’t make this evident sooner!

I’m almost kind of depressed it’s all over, it’s not even funny how fast it goes by!
At any rate, I will speak greatly of your services where I can. Thanks for being so patient and flexible with us.  So professional and talented.
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday with the family!
Say hi to Marley for us…he’s so cute!
THANK YOU so so much.
Much love!
Niki and Nick

Farm Wedding 2011

I was so thrilled when approached by AE Martin Photography to help with the florals for a farm themed wedding photo shoot.  After working with her on a previous wedding at The Prado at Balboa Park, we both were instantly drawn to each others style and design.  As you will see, Anne Martins images are so so beautiful and lovely.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

This summertime themed shoot on a farm was inspired by the carefree days of summer and sweet romance with a vintage touch.   Inspiring a soft natural color palette and rustic textures for flowers.

Bridal bouquet with pink blush roses, dusty miller, white dahlias, bay leaves, lavender, and amarathus hand-tied with ivory ribbon, pearls, and embellished with a vintage broach.

Art Alive 2011 April 29th-May 1

Flowerchild is absolutely thrilled and honored to be one of the designer interpreters for the Art Alive 30th Anniversary Celebration.  I have chosen a print by one of the 20th Century’s most influential and articulate artist/theorists Josef Albers.

Many of you are familiar with this unforgettable floral design inspired fundraiser that provides significant support for the permanent collection of the San Diego Museum of Art.  Those of you who are not, and have a love for flowers, it includes vibrant displays of color, texture and shape, resulting in a not-to-be-missed experience of fun, flowers and fantastic art.  I urge all to view this breathtaking spring exhibition.  I also want all the members out there to make it a priority to attend the Member Preview.  This preview is an opportunity exclusively for Museum members to view the fresh floral arrangements before Art Alive opens to the public. During this time Museum members will also be able to cast their vote for their favorite floral interpretation on display.  Keep your eye out for Flowerchild’s creation that is sure to be the talk of the event.

Art Alive 2011

30th Anniversary

Opening Celebration April 28, 2011 | Exhibition April 29 – May 1, 2011

Celebrating its 30th year, Art Alive is the Museum’s preeminent fundraiser and one of the longest running and most widely attended events of its kind in the United States. The unique exhibition of floral arrangements is created by more than 100 floral designers who take inspiration from the Museum’s renowned collection. The result is an awe-inspiring experience that should not be missed!

During this special time, the Museum is transformed into a glorious spectacle of art and flowers, creating an enchanting spring exhibition punctuated by a host of special events. This year’s celebration honors the artists, designers and the many people who have participated over the past 30 years of Art Alive.  We are excited to welcome back René van Rems as this year’s Rotunda Designer.
