Kellogg and Machala rehersal dinner at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club

Brunch with the Borrelli’s

Brunch at the Borrelli’s is always such a delight.  Champagne, flowers and delicious food always go hand and hand.

Since the gathering was at the beach in the late summer months, I went with a sea star theme and colors of yellow and orange.

Roses and  alstromeria are seen in the images above.

Janet and Jon’s Wedding at Mary Star of the Sea in La Jolla

This couple went for simplicity and color.  Getting married at the Mary Star of the Sea, Janet wanted to keep the flowers simple because the chapel is absolutely breathtaking on it’s own.  Looking at these bouquets, just warms me right up like a nice summers day.  Red and orange dahlias are a personal favorite of mine, along with blue hydrangea, green cymbidiums, blue delphinium, and orange lilies.

Fred and Nancy Borrelli’s 25th Anniversary Party

Nancy and Fred celebrated their silver anniversary with 60 of their closest family and friends.  Anneseth, owner of Bridal Bar in La Jolla, transformed the beachfront patio into an elegant celebration with flowing white fabric.  White and silver were the color accents for the event with a sophisticated beach feeling.

Image of tea roses show cased in a sterling silver champagne goblet from Nancy fine silver collection.

Table centerpiece in sterling silver containers with white hydrangea, white roses, white orchids, and cascading orchids.

Even though this was an anniversary celebration, it exemplified a perfect beach wedding.

The Price/Jacobs wedding took place in The Garden Terrace at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel.  The English-style garden overlooking the Harbor Island Marina is a real diamond.  With its fount vestibule, blooming flowers and beautiful arches, this intimate location pleasing catered to the 250 guests while being the perfect backdrop for this modern bride.   After the ceremony the guests made there way to the Catalina Ballroom

Romantic, dreamy, and rich in color was the wedding theme. Peony is the Bride’s favorite flower and roses were the Grooms.

ORFILA WINERY WEDDING APRIL 2009

Orfila Vineyards & Winery is an ultra-premium boutique winery perfect for a wedding.  Rich red roses was the brides favorite.  Red rose petals lines the aisle and two topiary may poles were the focus for the ceremony that overlooked the beautiful grape vines.  The centerpieces were strictly red roses with greens.

Jill Grundstrom Wedding Bali Hai September 13, 2008

Tulips

Submerged orchids

Green button mums and gerbera daisies

Jill Grundstrom wedding September 13, 2008 was a colorful San Diego affair with a Hawaiian feel. The ceremony took place at the downtown marina with the reception at the Balia Hai.  Flowers were of great importance to bride.  Color was Jill first request along with tropical flowers to make her fiance’s family feel at home.  Since the guest list was large requiring many tables at the reception, we decided to design 3 different centerpieces.  As the guests mingled, they viewed what I like to call, conversational centerpieces.

San Diego Children’s Museum opening dinner for donors, May 2008

I was so happy to be apart of the opening of the New San Diego Children’s Museum.  When I was approached to design the centerpieces for the dinner to thank the generous donors for their contribution, I initially wanted to  contribute myself and donating my time for this spectacular event.

The opening of the New Children’s Museum symbolized a rebirth of a new museum.  I then felt it was appropriate to incorporate the simplicity of pale pink cherry branches, flown in from the east coast, as the focal point of the centerpieces.  The 8 foot branches and river rock in a tall clear vase created a feeling as if one was walking through a blooming orchard in spring.    In this case, less is more.  There is something so beautiful about Simplicity.

The New San Diego Children’s Museum sneak peak, January 2008

The San Diengo Children’s Museum opened it’s doors to 500 donors and friends to take a sneak peak of the museum before it’s grand opening in May.  Magenta is the Children’s Museum logo color, so we felt it appropriate to make magenta the color of the night.  Roses, orchids, cherry blossoms, gerbera daisys, lillys and butterflies were my choice of flowers.  The photographs were taken by Michael Spengler, Studio M Photography.
